The Fluency Gap: combining language, intercultural communication and DEI to create business advantage

Is the working language at your work not your mother tongue? If so, you may sometimes run into a ‘fluency gap’, a situation where you find you are (just) not fluent enough in the language. This may mean that you cannot explain your ideas or express yourself well enough.

A fluency gap can occur when parties of differing language proficiency communicate. For example, if a non-native Dutch speaker joins a company full of native speakers, there will be gaps in their ability to express themselves fully.

This whitepaper will examine and discuss the connection between language, diversity and an inclusive culture in organisations with a deep-dive into the fluency gap.
